Eleanor Moore joined Schuchart in 2015 in an accounts payable and payroll role, and in 2025, was promoted to Controller. We’re marking a year of her leadership and insight as Controller with a Q&A piece. Learn more about Eleanor’s career, time with Schuchart, and life outside of work below.
Q: Can you tell us about your personal and professional background?
A: I grew up in Seattle and attended the University of Washington, earning a psychology degree with a minor in women’s studies. After graduating, I lived in Minneapolis, Louisville, and San Francisco before finding my way back home to Seattle. My professional journey to construction was not linear. I worked in the adjacent industry of property management first, which ended up inspiring me to continue my career in the built environment. I experienced the building I worked in through the lens of property management and saw every part of it, from the roof to the basement. I learned about how it functioned and witnessed the ins-and-outs of how space impacts daily life. The job opened my eyes to the world of construction and how buildings are created from the ground up.
Q: What’s your role at Schuchart, and how long have you been with the firm?
A: I’ve been with Schuchart for 11 years. I started in accounts payable and payroll, moved to a division accountant role, and was promoted to Controller in 2025. I’ve loved my trajectory here because I’ve had the opportunity to interact with everyone and really get to know my coworkers, both those who work in the office and those in the field. My career path at Schuchart has allowed me to see and manage the financials from every vantage point—the day-to-day, the big picture, and every detail and decision between.
Q: What personal values motivate you in your career? How does your role at Schuchart allow you to pursue that motivation?
A: Honesty, transparency, and open communication are all values that motivate me in my career, and my role at Schuchart is well-suited to those values. In any job but especially in a role like mine where you have to raise your hand and point out potential issues, it’s important to be at a company that supports you, and Schuchart does. I know that I can bring something to the leadership group’s attention and we will work together to resolve the challenge.
Q: When you think about your time with the firm, what is your favorite memory or moment?
A: My favorite memories with Schuchart are the annual summer family events. The activity and venue change, like last year we visited the aquarium, but what’s always the same is the comradery. I enjoy spending time with my coworkers and their families—it’s really meaningful to get a bigger picture of the people I work with and learn more about their lives. It’s not uncommon for a team member to have a 15+ year tenure with Schuchart, and I’m so happy to build these lasting relationships.
Q: When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
A: When I’m not at work, you can probably find me and my two kids spending time outside. We love to wander around our neighborhood and look at houses and gardens, and spot bunnies (we have a lot of them!). The Pacific Northwest is an incredible region and there is no shortage of opportunities to stay busy here outdoors. I also enjoy reading, playing boardgames, and puzzles of all kinds.
