We are proud to announce the appointment of Michael Rechnitz as Chief Operating Officer.

With over 20 years of construction experience, Michael assumes a pivotal role as a strategic leader focused on enhancing operational efficiency, driving market expansion, and nurturing staff development. His career is marked by many remarkable achievements, including spearheading groundbreaking projects in the PNW such as the new Forensic Hospital at Western State Hospital, the UW Medical Center Behavioral Health Teaching Facility, and the award-winning Digital Classroom Building — “The Spark” at Washington State University, lauded with dual national Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Awards for Excellence in Teaming and Excellence in Process.

Michael’s leadership philosophy embodies a hands-on approach, emphasizing the cultivation of team members at all levels to reach their highest potential. He likens construction to a team sport, where everyone plays a crucial role in delivering quality results, and to lead the team effectively, one must care about supporting every single player. For that reason, Michael says he didn’t join a company, but rather a group of people.

“I immediately saw that Schuchart exemplifies the endearing qualities of a family,” Rechnitz emphasized, pointing to the intentional culture cultivated within the company. “My opportunity in this role is to provide opportunity for others,” he added, underscoring his dedication to servant leadership and collaborative approaches — cornerstones of Schuchart’s operational philosophy.

“The decision to welcome Michael was unanimous among our leadership team. His expertise perfectly aligns with our sought-after competencies, coupled with a character that deeply resonates with our values.”– Casey Schuchart, President

With an unwavering dedication to preserving Schuchart’s familial ethos while elevating leaders and refining processes for sustained client excellence, Michael seeks to foster a growth-oriented environment where learning is reciprocal. “I aim to cultivate an environment where I learn as much from my team as they do from me,” he expressed.

The synergy between Casey and Michael signifies an evolution of the leadership team while honoring and expanding upon the legacy forged over the firm’s 35 years in operation. Casey, Michael, and the leadership team’s unified focus remains steadfast — delivering unparalleled service to clients, teaming partners, and staff.

Michael joins Schuchart from Clark Construction Group’s Seattle office. He holds a Master of Science in Construction Management from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Mathematics from Duke University.
