George Schuchart
Founder (retired)
Since he began his career as a carpenter’s apprentice, George understands the realities of day-to-day operations as well as issues involved in managing a large business. Before starting Schuchart in 1988, George was Director of Wright Schuchart, a large commercial and industrial contractor located in Seattle. As company president for Schuchart, he oversees sales, contracts, establishment of policies, employee training and business systems. His emphasis on safety has proven to be a valuable cost benefit to the company and its clients, resulting in a lower L&I rate and a safer, more efficient work environment.
Casey Schuchart
Casey began working as a laborer for the company and assumed more challenging roles including Sr. Project Engineer, Project Manager and Account Executive for work performed at Microsoft. He was instrumental in the delivery of the Bullitt Center; a six story office building deemed the most energy efficient commercial building in the world. Casey possesses the expertise in managing large teams executing complex project requirements. As the President of Schuchart, Casey leads the team through the execution of business initiatives and strategies. Casey earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego and an MBA from Seattle University. He is also an honorary member of AIA Seattle.
Jeff Tobin
Jeff Tobin serves as Chief Operating Officer at Schuchart, bringing more than 25 years of experience leading high-performing teams, delivering complex projects, and driving organizational growth. Jeff originally joined Schuchart in 2012 as Division Manager before being promoted to VP of Operations and then Chief Operating Officer. Jeff has hands-on experience implementing operational systems that drive efficiency, quality, and accountability; including technology adoption, process standardization, and performance management initiatives. Jeff excels at business development and client and partner relationships. Passionate about mentorship, he develops professionals across all levels and is dedicated to advancing the construction industry through participation in Career and Technical Education advisory committees in local school districts, as well as involvement with the AGC of Washington Education Foundation, where he serves on the Executive Committee and as a founding member of the CORE PLUS Construction Program.
Dan Rutkowski
Dan Rutkowski joined Schuchart Corporation in the spring of 2001. He holds a Bachelors of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado. His prior experience included work as a laborer on major construction projects, a designer for a large national design/build firm, and as project manager for a large national general contractor. Dan is Schuchart’s primary account manager for Boeing and has managed hundreds of Boeing projects throughout the Puget Sound region. Other project management experience has included high-end restaurant/kitchen projects, manufacturing facilities, hotels, hazardous material management facilities and retail.
Eric J. Petersen
With more than 20 years of experience in construction and architecture, Eric leads the Ground Up division. Beginning as a laborer and carpenter working alongside his father, he quickly developed an appreciation for the built environment. In concert with his degree in architecture from University of Idaho, Eric is a valuable member of our team. He serves as a facilitator and conduit between the team members—communicating with the owner, designers, subconsultants and subcontractors to reinforce design intent while looking for value-add solutions in the construction process.
Carla Simpson
As Schuchart’s Director of Finance & Administration, Carla has more than 10 years of experience with all disciplines of construction accounting. She enjoys developing strong relationships with clients and consultants, working closely with the Schuchart team to deliver exceptional service and accountability.
Dave Hathaway
Dave Hathaway joined Schuchart as a carpenter in 2006 and has risen through the ranks to his current position as Safety Director. He is an action-oriented skilled professional with solid supervisory skills with a proven history of delivering on-time and on-budget projects.
Maria Uribe
As the HR Manager at Schuchart, Maria brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to creating a positive and productive work environment. With her background in human resources and management, and her role on the Board of Directors for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Maria focuses on aligning HR strategies with our company’s goals and keeping up with industry standards.
Builder Team
Kevin Bakken
Kevin Bakken provides direct oversight of field operations, serving as a Senior Superintendent with over 30 years of experience in commercial construction across a wide range of project types and delivery methods. Kevin began his career as a Journeyman Carpenter and then Superintendent, gaining the experience, management, and supervisory skills he now utilizes as Senior Superintendent. He also has direct experience owning and operating his own business and holds certifications including OSHA 30-Hour, CPR/First Aid, Hazcom, and Loss Control and Accident Prevention. Kevin’s leadership in field operations encompasses safety, quality control, schedule, and budget. These capabilities, combined with his attention-to-detail, flexibility, and dedication, make him a valuable contributor to any project.
Ben Gleason
Ben Gleason has over 20 years of experience in construction, working on and overseeing projects ranging from residential homes and commercial office space to tenant improvement projects including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, banks, and office spaces. Serving as Senior Superintendent, Ben is skilled at managing schedules and the supervision and coordination of subcontractors, crews, equipment, and material. He is responsible for the safety of all crews working on the jobsite, as well as the public and neighboring tenants, and consistently demonstrates and promotes the importance of safety awareness.
Joe Ramos
Joe Ramos serves as Senior Superintendent within the Tenant Division at Schuchart, bringing more than eleven years of experience in the commercial construction industry, providing oversight and management on projects ranging from tenant improvements to ground-up construction. Joe is responsible for the supervision of all phases of construction and is a skilled supervisor who works side-by-side with owners, project managers, and subcontractors. He has successfully managed projects with fast-paced schedules, challenging structural elements, and complicated features. Joe is also an active member of the Schuchart Safety Committee and the Safety Leadership Team, reflecting his commitment to jobsite safety and leadership.
Dirk Ruana
Dirk Ruana serves as Director of Service at Schuchart, overseeing service operations and construction work across Boeing facilities throughout the Puget Sound region. Having joined Schuchart in 2001, his extensive field and leadership experience provides a practical understanding of construction planning, customer service, safety, scheduling, and project execution. He has managed ground-up construction, tenant improvements, laboratories, industrial installations, equipment foundations, facility upgrades, and fast-track projects in active and highly controlled environments. Dirk brings a collaborative, responsive, and customer-focused approach to Schuchart’s Service Department. His professional development includes OSHA 30-Hour training, CPR and First Aid certification, asbestos awareness, AGC supervisory training, and additional coursework in construction safety, leadership, communication, and concrete construction.
